curver+kimono is out today

High on life

The record that we made with Curver Thoroddsen and have been trying for years to get released is finally out. Curver produced our first album, mineur-aggressif, in 2003. After mixing each song, we would stay up with him for another four to five hours into the night making a "freak mix" of each song using sounds that didn't get used in the other version of the song.

rumours of our deaths...

I'm happy to report that we are still very much alive. We've been on two long tours of some European countries, met plenty of interesting people... it's been a hell of a party. We're currently in Iceland working on new material for our next album and playing a couple of shows. Gylfi has been living in Ireland for a while but he's around in Reykjavik. If you see him don't hug him, because he broke his collarbone in a car accident. Alex is still living in Berlin but is back for a few weeks to play a couple of shows in Iceland. He'll be moving back to Iceland in the autumn.

lawyers, guns and money

berlin - meets hudson wayne

As of 5PM this evening, we paid the lawyer who represented us in the case against "the other kimono in Berlin". It ate up a sizable chunk of the money that we had slated for our upcoming tour in Europe, so if you're reading this, "other kimono in Berlin", we'd like to extend a very large boot to you, and we think you probably know where it will fit best. For those who don't know already, we won the case.

kimono arrives in Berlin

kimono loves Berlin

We have finally arrived in the fine German city of Berlin. The two nights have been quite an ordeal as we try to find ourselves places to live and a practice space for the band to get in shape for our first couple of shows. The weather here is warmer than in Reykjavik for sure. We left a country in full autumn force and getting here it feels like we've turned the clock back.

a case of identity theft

Well... we're playing a show with Singapore Sling on the 3rd of September. It's going to be our last show in Iceland for quite some time as we're heading off to Germany on the 20th of September. There, we'll be starting off by playing at the opening of the Klink & Bank exhibition and playing at another show at a place called Bastard. It's too soon to tell, but we might be playing there with two other bands called kimono.

arctic death ship - early release in Iceland

arctic death ship: kimono on deck

kimono and Bad Taste Ltd. are very pleased to announce that the new album, Arctic Death Ship, has finally arrived in the country of Iceland. Advance reviews have called the album "an ambitious, bold, brilliant piece of modern rock, cramming the last twenty or so years of musical genre bending into one complete whole." We like to think of it as the sound of four drastically different individuals pulling songs in many directions at once.

kimono is moving to Berlin

Many questions have been asked concerning the band's decision to move to Berlin this fall. First of all, Dóri is going to school at UdK in an exchange program with Listaháskolinn Íslands (the art school in Reykjavík). The rest of us are going to slack off and enjoy the low rent housing in the Kreuzberg area. We're also going to try to tour as much as possible during this time.

New video by Ragnar Hansson

The Japanese Policeman video is ready. It was made by Ragnar hansson and you can find it in the downloads. We're heading to the USA in late July. We might be releasing our record in Japan next fall. Dóri's poetry book is still available in Dogma and 12 Tónar.
