Úlpa spikes kimono and Úlpa gets spoken to

Kimono played Gaukur Á Stöng for the second time to a small audience made up mainly of people in other bands. The feeling of the evening was summed up best when the band asked the crowd if they ever felt like they were covering themselves. A bit of confusion ensued as to what songs were going to be played and which... um... weren't and it all just fell apart with the show ending with half the band running away and the other half left standing on the stage feeling silly.

The rest of the band had no comment aside from a thinly veiled suggestion that Alex "may have been on drugs."

kimono appear in a photographic exhibition

kimono is the subject of a young photographer's school project. We think that's newsworthy and we're not afraid to admit it. The exhibition is on Laugavegur (up by the evil Skífan) - but across the street like... The pictures were taken by Sigrún Guðmundsdóttir.

She did a fabulous job... simply fabulous. And now I intend to buy some pants that fit me. Three cheers for Sigrún and kudos to my father for being right all along.

kimono will not be appearing in any lamb advertisements

We won't do it man... they asked us and we had to say "no! we don't support yr butchering ways." Meat is murder, motherfucker. You can tell that we really believe that since the whole exhibition we're in shows Dóri in an army helmet just like that Smiths album from... how long ago was that anyway? 1985. Holy shit. Dóri wasn't even out of diapers back then.

[Editor's Note:] Was this real or did I imagine this happening?

Rokkland will tell the kimono story next Sunday at 16:00

Such as it is...

G'nah g'nah g'nah. We did a live set of songs from our upcoming album "mineur-aggressif" and one new song that not many people have heard yet for the Rokkland show on Rás 2. The national radio station has a beautiful studio. The basement of the building was used for the Fugazi and Jon Spencer Blues X-plosion shows that went on here a few years ago. Lovely.

There is nothing to say but say itself... or is that fear?

I'm sitting here on my lunch break thinking about what has happened for the past few months. We're back on track with new material and we're looking forward to playing lots of shows this summer and trying to organize the tour for this fall. Smekkleysa has more or less completely indicated that they are releasing the album, but the process has been slow and we're getting anxious to get this album out and start on a new one. Get me drunk and ask me about this. My bottled rage will surely entertain.

kimono moves into TÞM

Kimono have a new home, having just recently moved from their place out by Höfði, where the cold war ended. We can't tell you where it is because that would mean that it isn't a secret and secret are what make Kimono so much fun. Blah... we can tell you that it smells alternately like a fish processing plant and a chemistry laboratory.

The new practice space is in the the TÞM building down by Grandi. It's a very nice place with a great security system and it's being run by Danny Pollock and a guy named Jónas with a big dog named Vaggi.

kimono have a new drummer

Kimono have a new member, named Kjartan Bjarnason. He's played with a few bands before this one, most recently with URL and another one called Kjartan, with someone else named Kjartan. He will be joining us for our first show in a few months at Grand Rokk where we will play on Thursday, March 20th, provided that the new strain of pneumonia doesn't kill us all off.

Okay, we mean it this time...

After months of fuck-all happening, the recordings really are finished this time. The album is probably going to be called mineur-aggressif, which for those interested in the meaningless minutiae of our band, is the original name of the second half of the Apology. The album was produced by noise artist, Bibbi "Curver" Thoroddsen, who is now working with Ken Thomas on the new Mínus record, and co-produced by Birgir Örn Steinarsson of Maus.

All in all the album ranges from disorienting and psychedelic to cold and empty. These, mind you, are meant to be good things.
